Prostitution Charges

Arrests for prostitution and related crimes occur regularly in the state of Washington. Prostitution occurs if one engages, agrees, or offers to engage in sex with another in exchange for a fee. Sexual conduct by definition includes sexual intercourse or sexual contact. Prostitution is a misdemeanor offense but there are other criminal charges involving prostitution that can be felonies such as Promoting Commercial Sexual Abuse of a Minor and Promoting Prostitution. Law enforcement officials use different tactics to obtain evidence in prostitution cases. Some undercover methods include undercover sting operations, prostitution ring breakups, online sex internet ads, and may other tactics. There are defenses available to prostitution charges.
